FASHION DESIGNING & COMPUTER COURSES
FASHION DESIGNER
This is a very good programme with a lot of job-opportunities. The NSDC Fashion Designer course at USDC is a 10-month programme involving theory and a lot of practical work under the guidance of highly-qualified and efficient teachers. We have well-furnished classrooms, lab, computer lab and all other standard facilities. Among the students who have already completed the course with us, many are employed. Some have become tutors of Fashion Designing, some are running their own businesses from home, some have opened boutiques, some have formed small friendship-groups while studying here and opened boutiques together, some have found employment in shops and boutiques, some are working in garment-producing factories, etc. The NSDC certificates have proved useful to many of them for securing jobs. We are also training students for Fashion Designing and Garment Technology (FDGT) course, which is a 2-year PSC-approved course of the Government of Kerala. This certificate qualifies people for Government jobs like teaching posts in schools, Government-owned garment-making factories and other enterprises, etc. We have also a garment production centre called Unity Garments. Some students who have completed the NSDC course with us are working in this production unit. They make garments under the brand name Unity Garments. Our students can avail themselves of the facilities of this unit to acquire more practice and experience. USDC has also a cafeteria where students can buy bottled water, tea, coffee, small snack items, etc. at very low prices. They can also bring their own food and have it in the cafeteria.
HOME HEALTH AIDE
This is a 9-month NSDC course to prepare students to work as health care assistants in homes. There is a lot of scope for this work nowadays both in urban India and abroad. Many families are looking for trained health care givers to look after the elderly, the sick confined to homes and other invalids. USDC offers Home Health Aide course. This is a comprehensive programme including the fundamentals of nursing, basic concepts of psychology and mental health, basic language skills, basic communication skills, etc. as well as a lot of practical work in patient care and handling. This course will enable people to find well-paid jobs in India as well as abroad.
COMPUTER COURSES
USDC offers a number of basic computer courses oriented to jobs. Some of these courses are: Diploma in Computer Application, Domestic Data Entry Operator, Domestic IT Helpdesk Attendant, Junior Software Developer, Senior Associate Desktop Publishing, Web Developer, Media Developer, Documentation Executive, etc. These are mostly NSDC courses. All of them are of 6 to 9-month duration. We have highly-qualified teachers, well-furnished computer lab and all other necessary facilities.

FOODS AND SNACKS UNIT
USDC has a foods and snacks unit called Unity Foods and Snacks. Here they produce various food and snack items. These are on sale from here as well as from shops under the brand name Unity Foods and Snacks. All items are produced here according to the strictest principles of nutrition under supreme hygienic conditions. The unit also offers training in cooking and food management so that people can start their own cafes, food production centres, catering services, etc.
A CUMULATIVE PROGRAMME
USDC offers also a 9-month cumulative programme combining both home health care and cooking called Home Health Aide cum Multicuisine Cook. This course prepares people to become health care workers and cooks at the same time. This opens plenty of job opportunities since people who can both take care of the sick and cook are in great demand. They can find highly-paid jobs in private homes, old age homes, palliative care centres, etc.
